chillout top songs for 2018

My mix of chillout top songs for 2018Tablet playlist of top songs for 2018

I think we all have our top songs, sometimes just for this year (2018); sometimes for multiple years. And of course, the greatest songs of all time playlist. My “all-time greatest list” is actually pretty long, I have been adding to it for so many years now. And when a song makes it on that list, it usually is never taken off.

Chill-out (chill, chillout or chill out) is characterized by slow tempos and relaxed moods. It generally refers to anything that might be identified as a modern type of easy listening. Some genres associated with chill: downtempo, classical, dance, jazz, hip hop, world, pop, lounge, and ambient.

Michael FK “Nebula”

Amoa Mass “Bombs Over Breakfast”

“Ambient house” came from the Heaven nightclub’s White Room in London in 1989. By playing ambient mixes, the room allowed dancers a place to “chill out” from the music of the main dance floor. Ambient house became widely popular over the next decade. In the early 2000s, DJs began creating ambient house mixes that drew on jazz, classical, Hispanic, and New Age sources. “Chill-out” was also removed from its ambient origins and became its own distinct genre.

Evocativ “Castaway”

Unworn “Back From The Dead”

“Chillwave” was a term coined in 2009 for music that could already be described as dream pop. As on-demand music streaming services grew in the 2010s, a form of downtempo tagged as “lo-fi hip hop” or “chillhop” became popular among YouTube users. Chill-out typically has slow rhythms, sampling, a “trance-like nature”, “drop-out beats”, and a mixture of electronic instruments with acoustic instruments

BZY “Morning Walk”

Julian Kruse “Breathe”

.In 2013, YouTube began allowing users to host live streams, which resulted in a host of 24-hour “radio stations” dedicated to microgenres such as vaporwave and in 2017, a form of downtempo music tagged as “lo-fi hip hop” or “chillhop” became popular among YouTube music streamers.

This Will Destroy You

“They Move On Tracks Of Never-Ending Light”

Quantic “Time Is The Enemy”

Conclusion

My playlist of chillout top songs is short, at least for 2018. No longer going to clubs and living a more relaxed lifestyle, I can get by with a short list of chill. A little goes a long way and it is great when giving teenagers a ride to and from anywhere. Modern and trendy enough to not embarrass them but easy for me to listen to, and allow their conversation to just pass me by.

Thumbs up or down on my playlist? And what do you listen to on the way home from the club?

Questions and comments always welcomed!

Thanks for this great selection of top chillout songs in 2018. I must admit that although I am a big fun of chillout music, I have not known the music you chose for your favorites. Maybe because I usually listened to the older music from 2010 – 2015. But thanks to you, it’s time for me to move forward and listen to some newer great chillout music. Thanks again!

Hi Sandy and you are welcome! I am glad I could introduce you to some chill you have not heard. I listen to a lot of music daily and a lot of my friends  are surprised at some of the music I find. YouTube is great for a lot of the new stuff out there but I have found some cool sounds on Sound Cloud also. Enjoy!

You are most welcome! Glad I could help you out. I work nights and really can’t sleep during the day. So, I go thru YouTube, Sound Cloud, Spotify and play music from different social media groups. Find it, save it and go back later to edit and try to let some go. I listen to different music daily. Enjoy!
