Hello and welcome to Relaxation and Meditation Music. My name is Sanders and I first became interested in music as a way to help relax and let go of stress and worry. I found it difficult to allow myself to get to my “Happy Place” because I could never seem to shut down the thoughts, the inner voice.
By accident, I discovered Native American Flute music and I found that I could focus on the music, allow my mind to clear and actually relax instead of spending some much time trying. I have tried and enjoyed other music but always seem to relax more completely and rapidly with the flute.
Growing up in Alabama, I never dreamed that the world was this big and yet this small. So big that when I was in the US Navy, it would take days to reach the destination even at full speed and the shortest route (which we never did). Today we can have a live video chat from Iowa to anywhere there is an internet connection.
In the Navy, I met People from all 50 States and some of the US Territories. Different backgrounds, different ways of doing things. When visiting other countries, I was amazed at the different cultures, the food, the people themselves. My wife and I lived in Japan for four years and enjoyed every second. When we lived off base, no other Americans were living within several kilometers from us and I think we had some of the best times of our life.
Stationed in Seoul, South Korea for a year and months, without my wife, was a culture shock and an enlightening experience. I could survive without my Maryee but it was a sad survival. Going home to “visit” was joy.
After I retired from the Navy, Maryee and I got into Foster Parenting and then we adopted two of our foster kids. I thought the Navy was stressful but soon found out that becoming a Dad to pre-teens added a new meaning to “STRESS”. Without a way to relax, even small problems take on a larger than life aspect and when dealing with children, we always want to appear calm and sure. Sort of like Skipper on Gilligan’s Island.
We have a small bit of land and miniature horses, dogs, cats, a small flock of chickens, ducks, and geese. All require time and work, all giving back in peace and a feeling of well-being. I cannot think of the me that could replace the me that now is. Still… Looking ahead, I see more choices, more paths.
Relaxing and meditating are accomplished within ourselves, yet sometimes we need help with achieving our goals. I am not a guru, I know of no path to enlightenment. I do know that in today’s world, with its ever-increasing demand of our time, the need for ways to shake off the stress and to focus on ourselves should not be the cause of additional stress.
Use the techniques you already know with Music and enhance your experience and level of relaxing and meditating. Share with others and together we can make our tiny piece of the Earth a better place.
My goal is to be a more relaxed and focused husband, father and friend. I wish to be able to provide help to others who desire a few moments each day as needed to recharge and find the peace we all deserve.
